The debate begins in Delaware tomorrow on whether to allow sports betting in the state. Delaware would make a ton. The articles says they are worried about Delware not getting as many customers as Vegas. Believe me, I think they would get more!

They'll make a fortune.

From what I've been told, Delaware already makes 20% of its tax revenue from gambling so it has a good chance to PASS!

The problem will be Delaware will only have 3-1 payoffs on 3 team parlays and other terrible odds. That's what they had before and with no legal local competition they won't offer better this time.

Yeah, but bulldog , they have to start somewhere. Im sure in time they would "catch on" to the rest of the world when it comes to sports betting.

Oregon has been doing it for 13 years and they haven't caught on, why would Delaware be different?

quote:
Critics are worried about the social consequences, saying sports betting would create more gambling addicts, lure youngsters into gambling and reflect negatively on the athletes many people consider to be role models.

Yeah - it would be a shame if the wife-beaters and drug abusers that are allowed to skirt the law (often with the help of the respective leagues) were not thought of as role models because people could bet on them.

(Okay, I realize that the previous statement is a generalization, but I still say that if Pete Rose had been a wife beater or a drug abuser, he would have been in the hall of fame a long time ago, but NO, he was expected of sports betting - apparently far worse).

Sports betting in Delaware was and will be (if approved) a total joke. Parlay cards and bullchit lottery tickets. Forget about 110 to 100 straight betsor dime line baseball...No Chance in Hell.

Don't even get excited. BTW, I live in Delaware.

They would OWN NY and Philadelphia sports betting if they had any sense, but the politicians are not ready for Vegas/Offshore sports betting.

The Grandfathered laws has them sitting on a gold mine if they understood exactly how valuable an asset that it truly is.

Agree with Steve DJ. Oregon has "sports betting" currently. So what? It's set up like a lottery. It exists in Montreal as well (sports lottery betting).
It's sort of parimutual with an insanely high takeout (of course).
If Delaware gets sportsbetting, it will not effect any of our lives.
David Matthews does not have a good understanding of the type of sportsbetting that Delaware will (re)establish.
